However, the heart of the estate is a refined sixteenth century
villa that has been in my family for over 60 years, and has been
rented to foreign visitors for several years now. In 1994, after
a careful and extensive restoration, an estate farmhouse was converted
in to 10 delightful apartments and they, together with the villa,
form what is effectively our own small hillside hamlet.
It goes without saying that the villa and apartments are presented
and managed through Renting In Italy!
For many years I have been exclusively concerned with accommodating
and welcoming overseas visitors to Tuscany, with their needs and
requirements. I've lost count of the number of museums booked,
the number of light bulbs changed in apartments, to say nothing
of the number of wine-tastings organised in our cellars - I am
a 'first-level' sommelier!
I've been lucky in that many of these guests have arrived as clients
and left as friends, and this often surprises me; seven days are
not really that many in which to form good friendships, but perhaps
more than this comes the fact that I always strive to strike the
balance between invasion of privacy, whilst at the same time being
available and reliable.
Over the years I have worked with numerous overseas agencies and
representatives - many of these too arrived for work reasons and
left as friends - and it became pretty much the norm for me to
deal almost daily with overseas agencies. I learnt to value their
advice and suggestions, and to learn from their experiences in
order to limit my mistakes as I learnt about the business and
its demands.
With time I began to have other property owners knocking at my
door looking for advice on how to advertise their holiday homes
and vacation apartments in Tuscany and other parts of Italy, and
I am now consultant for at least 20 such properties, as well as
being a broker for 4 American agencies, 1 Australian agency and
one British agency.
I write all of this to let you know that I understand well the
requirements of visitors, and work closely with property owners
to ensure that they do also.
