La Fortezza is a charming historic fortress near the Versilian coastline in Tuscany, Italy. This completely renovated medieval castle (1000 years old and on the site of a Roman outpost) is situated against the splendid setting of the Apuan Alps.
The house lies 200 metres above sea level and enjoys magnificent views over the
Versilian coast. This Tuscan holiday villa is surrounded by a stone wall, with
a heavy
gate leading you to a paved path, which crosses the garden to the house.
The owners have carefully carved a comfortable modern house from this medieval building. Each piece of furniture and art has been carefully selected to give the castle a clean and modern look, with soft delicate colors showing off the original granite floors, stone walls, huge fireplace, and outstanding views. With five terraces you have a 360 degree view onto the mountains, valleys, and the sea, and then onto the Isle of Gorgona and the Gulf of Portovenere.
