In the heart of the Garfagnana, the mountainous area in the north of the province of Lucca, is the Guesthouse Il Piano. Surrounded by breathtaking scenery and far from the chaos of city life, this tranquil spot is perfect for getting away from it, unwinding, and pursuing outdoor activities.
This beautifully restored stone built house was a rest stop on the Versilia-Modena trade route, and great care has been taken to maintain and restore its original characteristics.
Guesthouse Il Piano is a short distance away from an attractive village with shops and restaurants, and a little further way is the town of Castelnuovo di Garfagnana with all the amenities.
The house has been converted into three self-catering apartments on the first floor while the owners occupy the ground floor. Your hosts are a willing fount of local information and are also guides to the area who can help you with planning biking, trekking, canyoning and caving excursions.
The location of this guesthouse makes it ideal for exploring the Garfagnana and the Apuan Alps or the Appennines, and the Orecchiella National Park is a must with its rich fauna. The owners can be available on request to accompany guests on the many marked routes in the area, with plenty of choice for all abilities.
The guesthouse also has a large and inviting swimming pool (6 x 12m, 1.5m deep) enjoying sweeping views of the mountains and with plenty of comfortable sun loungers, chairs and umbrellas. Open from May until September, it is the perfect spot to relax and immerse yourself in the tranquillity of this place. The beautifully maintained gardens are furnished with tables and chairs for guests to dine al fresco.
All the apartments are well equipped to make your stay as comfortable as possible. Each kitchen has a gas hob, fridge/freezer, oven and dishwasher, and there is a communal washing machine (payable locally).
