Holiday accommodation in Umbria
In Umbria, within easy reach of Rome, Florence, Perugia, Gubbio and Lakes Trasimeno and Montedoglio, this lovely old cottage sleeps six, and shares a swimming pool.
Moscatello Cottage, an old granary, is now converted to comfortable holiday accommodation, and lies within the grounds of Villa Le Preghiere. The villa itself is a luxurious 12th century monastery, in the centre of Italy. It lies in countryside within walking distance of the village of Calzolaro, in the upper Tiber valley between Umbertide and Città di Castello.
The cottage was originally built as a church for the monastery in the 1600s, and was converted to a granary in the 1840s, by the family who bought the estate. Now it has been tastefully restored with the utmost attention to detail, lovingly furnished and decorated to an exceptionally high standard with antiques and hand-made furniture.
Terracotta floors, huge oak and chestnut beams and a staircase with a hand-crafted wrought-iron balustrade, combined with an open-plan, brick-arched ground floor area achieve a spacious sunny atmosphere, where signature materials have been used throughout for the interior fixtures, fittings and finishing.
