Farmhouse Il Verde bears witness to a colourful history. Around the early 15th Century, it formed the outpost of the borough of Montaione against the neighbouring towns of Volterra and San Gimignano. Nearby, there are many trekking tours and the Hermitage of San Vivaldo in the (on the famous Via Francigena). San Vivaldo is known as 'Jerusalem in Tuscany' thanks to its chapels, terracotta work and paintings of the Robbias School. Montaione was declared a municipality in 1257, and is situated in the heart of Tuscany. San Gimignano is 15 km, Certaldo (home of Boccaccio) 10 km, and Volterra (the famous Etruscan and alabaster town) 20 km away.
A clearing in the woodland reveals a hill covered with broad shady trees. Wild flowers adorn the meadows and guide the visitor to a charming, sheltered swimming pool. The accommodation is well planned and spacious and offers absolute calm, with endless enchanting panoramic views and thoughts of a nightingales song.
